Davis is a fifteen-year-old boy from Uganda with a dream that is bigger than himself. While many children in his village dream of becoming teachers, doctors, or engineers, Davis’s dream is different: he wants to become an accountant.
Davis grew up watching the struggles around him. His parents work hard in the fields, yet poverty still follows them. Many times he has seen money that was meant for schools, hospitals, or roads disappear into the wrong hands. Even as a child, he could see the unfairness. He once asked his teacher, “Why are we sitting in classrooms without books when money was sent for them?” That question planted a seed in his heart.
From that day, Davis decided that one day he would study to become an accountant. He believes that if honest people are in charge of money, his country can change. He often says, “I want to fight corruption. I want to make sure that every shilling is used to build a better future for children like me.”
But Davis’s dream does not come easily. His family can hardly afford school fees, and sometimes he is sent home for not paying. He borrows books from classmates, studies under the dim light of a candle, and uses old exercise books to practice his math. Numbers excite him, and even when life is hard, he believes that education is the key to change.
Davis imagines himself in the future, sitting at a desk as an accountant, making sure resources are not stolen but used to build schools, hospitals, and safe roads. He dreams of seeing his country free from corruption, where every child can learn, every patient can be treated, and every family can live with dignity.
Though poor and often without support, Davis’s determination is unshaken. He knows that with a helping hand, he can study, achieve his dream, and serve his country with honesty and courage.
