In a small village in central Uganda, a young girl named Elizabeth would sit under the shade of the mango tree, watching her grandmother carefully prepare herbal remedies for neighbors. Elizabeth is twelve old, but her heart burned with a dream much bigger than her years—she wanted to become a nurse.
She had seen too much suffering around her. Her little brother once fell ill with malaria, and the nearest clinic was several miles away. The nurse there worked tirelessly, treating dozens of patients with kindness and skill. Elizabeth never forgot how the nurse’s smile gave her hope in the darkest moment.
From then on, Elizabeh studied harder than ever. Even when candles were too costly, she would sit by the firelight at night, practicing her science lessons. Her father would sometimes shake his head, saying, “Nursing is not easy, my child.” But her mother always whispered encouragement: “Follow your heart, Amina. Our village needs people like you.”
At school, Elizabeth’s teachers noticed her determination. While other children hurried home after classes, Elizabeth stayed behind, borrowing books from teachers. She dreamed not only of helping her family, but of serving her community—giving vaccines, treating wounds, comforting mothers.
Amina promised them: “One day I will return, not just as your daughter, but as your nurse. I will bring healing home.” You can make Elizabeth`s dream come true by supporting her.
