Namubiru pretty is a bright and determined young girl from Uganda whose greatest dream is to become a midwife so that she can one day help mothers safely bring new life into the world. She is compassionate, hardworking, and performs well in school despite the many challenges she faces daily. Unfortunately, Juliet’s dream now hangs in uncertainty due to the difficult circumstances of her family.
Juliet comes from a vulnerable household where both parents struggle with poor health and chronic illnesses. Because of their condition, they are unable to work consistently or earn a stable income. The little they manage to get is barely enough to provide food, clothing, and medical care for Juliet and her siblings. School fees, scholastic materials, and other basic educational needs have become an unbearable burden. As a result, Juliet is at risk of dropping out of school despite her strong desire to learn.
Without support, Juliet may be forced into child labor, early marriage, or a life of poverty like many vulnerable children in similar situations. Her dream of becoming a midwife—a profession that could save lives and uplift her entire family—may never be fulfilled. The cycle of poverty and ill-health in her family could continue for generations.
