Every morning, before the sun rises, eight-year-old Nakyuge Peace ties the worn straps of her broken sandals and begins her five-kilometer walk through muddy roads and bush paths. She walks alone. Not to play, not to be held—but to learn.
Her classroom is a tin shed with holes in the roof, no desks, and a floor of wet red earth. When it rains—and it often does—the lessons stop. The children scatter, books soaked, dreams paused. And Peace, holding a stick like chalk, watches her future disappear into the storm.
“I want to be a teacher,” she says softly. “So I can help children like me who don’t have anyone.”
Peace is an orphan. Her parents died when she was very young, and though she lives in an overcrowded shelter, what she longs for most isn’t just education—it’s love.
“Sometimes, I call out 'Maama' at night, hoping someone will answer,” she whispers. “I dream of sitting at a table… just to have dinner with a family. Just once.”
She doesn’t want toys or sweets. She wants a roof over her school. A safe place to sleep. A warm meal. And someone—anyone—to say, “You matter.”
Peace’s heart is wide open, but her world is falling apart.
Will you be the one to answer her unspoken prayer?
Your sponsorship could keep her in school.
Your kindness could rebuild her classroom.
Your love could show her she’s not forgotten.
Because no child should have to beg the sky for love, or the rain for mercy.
She Walks 5 Kilometers Just to Learn
Peace walks barefoot every day to reach a broken, roofless classroom. She doesn’t complain—she just wants to learn. Your support can bring school closer, safer, and within reach.
She Dreams of Becoming a Teacher to Help Others
Even in her hardship, Peace dreams of giving back. “I want to teach children like me,” she says. Your help now could raise a teacher who will change many lives tomorrow.
She’s an Orphan—But She Still Believes in Family
Peace has no parents, yet every night she softly calls out “Maama.” She longs for love, not luxury. Your care could give her a sense of belonging and the family warmth she’s never felt.
She’s Missing School Because of Rain, Not Choice
When it rains, her school floods. No roof, no learning. A small donation could put a roof over her classroom—and a future back in her hands.
Your Help Can Be the First Time She’s Chosen
She’s never been picked, never been called “daughter,” never had someone choose her. You can be the first. Your sponsorship says, “You are seen. You are loved.”
