KAGGWA's Story
Ian Kagwa is a 8 year-old orphan boy whose life has been shaped by hardship at a very young age. He comes from a struggling household where poverty is a daily reality and basic needs such as food, clothing, and medical care are never guaranteed. Accessing education has become one of his greatest challenges. Some days Ian walks long distances hoping to attend class, only to be sent back home because he lacks school fees, uniforms, or learning materials. At home, illness and hunger often replace the comfort and security every child deserves.
Despite these painful circumstances, Ian carries a powerful dream in his heart — he wants to become a teacher in the future. He believes that through education he can not only change his own life but also help other children escape the cycle of poverty. His teachers describe him as intelligent, respectful, and eager to learn whenever he gets the opportunity.
However, without support, Ian’s future is at great risk. If no helping hand reaches him, he may be forced to drop out of school completely. This could expose him to child labor, exploitation, poor health, and a lifetime of unfulfilled potential.
