Jorrin is a young girl growing up in a small village in Uganda. Life has never been easy for her family. They struggle each day to find enough food, and whenever someone falls sick, it is a heavy burden because there is rarely money for medicine or hospital care.
Jorrin has watched her mother suffer from untreated illnesses and her younger siblings cry in pain without proper medical help. She has also seen neighbors lose their loved ones because the nearest health center is far away and often without enough nurses. These painful experiences have planted a powerful dream in her heart: Sarah wants to become a nurse.
She says, “If I become a nurse, I can save my family from suffering, and I can help my community so that no one dies from simple sicknesses.”
At school, Jorrin works harder than most of her classmates. Even though she sometimes goes without lunch and shares old, worn-out books, she listens carefully and always raises her hand in class. Science is her favorite subject, because she believes it is the key to her future.
When she is sent home for not paying school fees, Jorrin does not give up. She studies from memory, writes on scraps of paper, and prays for a chance to continue. At night, by the dim light of a small lamp, she whispers to herself, “One day, I will wear the nurse’s uniform, and I will bring healing.”
Jorrin knows her family cannot afford the cost of education, but she believes that with help, her dream can become reality. Her vision is not just to save her own family but to serve her whole community, giving hope where there is despair.
